OAC Bay Area December 17th Update

Hello all, and Merry Christmas! Wow, things have been busy. God has kept things moving, and ministry as we head into the Christmas season has been fantastic, despite some personal and health struggles. Here are a few highlights.

  • My boss Eric, who has been with OAC and doing open air evangelism for over 35 years, spent a week in the area the week after Thanksgiving.  He generally comes for one week a year, and it’s always a privilege to spend time learning from him and discussing how I can improve our local ministry.  Despite the fact that I was recovering from a bad cold, it went very well, and I was very encouraged. Eric was also able to speak at our church the Sunday he was here, and I believe it was a big encouragement to those who were there.  Please pray I will be able to continue encouraging our congregation to reach out to the local community.
  • I just took over as the regular Bible teacher for a kids club in Morgan Hill, and the meetings so far have gone really well. We had our Birthday for Jesus meeting last week, which was great. The kids really payed attention, and asked great questions. Please pray God continues to work on them, and that He gives wisdom to me and the other leaders.  Also, we have had several phone and in-person meetings regarding a kids club in a school near our church, and it looks like that could be starting as soon January. Please pray God keeps opening doors .
  • I had the privilege of speaking for a Holiday luncheon at the Presidio Military base in Monterey.  The event was put on by the Christian Faculty and Staff group on the base, and trainees from all branches of the military were there. I gave a Christmas Gospel message with the sketch board, and I think God really used the time. Several people came up to thank me afterwards, and one man even asked to keep the sketch so he could use it in a home Bible study. Praise God!

  • Christmas in the Park has bee really good this year. In additional to handing out tracts and preaching we have been using a Christmas Song riddle sketch to start conversations. Its been a great way to put a smile on people’s faces and encourage them to stay and hear the Gospel. A picture of the sketch is below (how many of the songs can you guess?).  Please pray God continues to work this next weekend, which will be our final weekend before the event closes.

As we go into the new year, my focus will be developing my kids clubs, an building my support level.  After several years I’m still no where close to full support, and I need to be in a much better spot to keep moving forward.  As it is, things have been pretty rough.  Please pray for us, and consider partnering with us.  I’ve attached up updated version of our information sheet.  Please take a look, and consider sharing it with anyone you think might be encouraged. If you or your church need help with evangelism training, or if you or someone you know want to get out and share the Gospel in your community, I’d love to talk to you and see how I can help.  Keep in mind, when I’m involved in training or mentoring, I’m not primarily interested in creating more street preachers (though that’s not a bad thing).  I’m about equipping regular believers, and churches, to share the Gospel with more confidence, wherever God puts them.  I hope to hear from you.

God bless, and Merry Christmas!
